Since Lake Lanier spans a wide area, you have many options for where you can base your stay.  Choosing where to stay might primarily depend on your budget.  However, you’ll also need to consider what you want to do and where you want to explore while at the lake.

One of the most popular places for Lanier visitors to stay is Lanier Islands in Buford.  In fact, many visitors come to Lake Lanier and then make it a tradition.  Within their 1,200 scenic lakefront acres, there is an abundance of activities to keep everyone entertained and yearning to come back year after year.

Though the centerpiece of the resort is the Legacy Lodge and Conference Center, other options for accommodations at Lanier Islands include Villas, LakeHouses, Shoal Creek Campgrounds, and a brand new RV Resort at Margaritaville at Lanier Islands.

In the first part of this chapter, we’ll provide a detailed listing of the accommodations options at Lanier Islands. We’ll end the chapter with a listing of some of the hotels you’ll find in the towns that surround the lake.  If you’re looking for campgrounds, we’ll list those in detail in Chapter 3:  Camping on Lake Lanier.
